I have an innate ability to keep many details in my head at once. I am a prolific notetaker in meetings and keep to-do lists for myself. As a lexophile, I have an eagle eye for spelling and grammar mistakes. Similarly, I'm a formatting wonk and like to ensure consistency with whatever precedent or template has been set.
There have been numerous cases where I've dug heavily into Excel and/or Power Query to take a spreadsheet or set of data to the next level. I love to geek out on complicated formulas and connections in order to build robust tools to make people's jobs easier. I did that with our vacation/overtime tracking system, pulling data from timesheet entries in NetSuite. I also built a data aggregator to monitor overall progress on ECO review sheets to see if the implementation of new processes was improving output quality before it got to the review stage.
I generally operate by the philosophy of doing things right the first time. Certainly, this has manifested many times in CAD modeling. I advocate for a thought-out master model, as this is often the best way to create a robust assembly and minimize headaches when iterating or creating drawings.
I generally like to keep things light and humorous at the workplace. It doesn't keep serious work from getting done, but if people are smiling or laughing (or even rolling their eyes), all the better.
My family, including three school-aged kids, keeps me pretty busy, but when I can, I love to travel, hike, camp, ski, and otherwise be outdoors. I'm an avid board/card game player. In my younger days, I was an active ballroom dancer and a capella singer.
I've been an active member of Plast, a Ukrainian Scouting Organization, since I was a kid. I participated in summer camps, troop meetings throughout the year, and achieved the equivalent of Eagle Scout level. As an adult, I have volunteered my time as a counselor, trainer, branch leader, large event organizer, and a member of the National Board of Directors. I have Plast to thank for fostering my leadership and organizational skills and helping me develop a can-do attitude.
